the Source Cover Boy, Feb. 2003

Right around the time that Lewis was born, a friend of mine, Bend photographer Steve Tague, was putting together his book, Baby: An Owner's Manual. This shot, actually taken in the fall of 2002, was intended as the cover photo. The parents at Steve’s publisher loved the photo; the non-parents thought it was gross. As a result, the image was moved inside the book along with several other photographs of Lewis that Steve shot around the same time. Ironically, Lewis made it onto a different cover a couple months later when the Source magazine chose this image as the cover of their February 2003 Mens Issue.

Of course, at this point our only question is how old Lewis will be when he is finally able to express his gratitude to The Parents for all the exposure he received early on in his life. You’re welcome, son!
