Downtown Telluride

Of all the resort communities we visited, we liked Telluride the best. An old mining town set in a box canyon surrounded by mountains, it doesn’t get more picturesque than this. I’d love to see this town in winter.

Public Transit

Because Telluride is geographically constrained, there is a limit to the amount of traffic and congestion the community can handle. The well-heeled citizens of Telluride got together with the well-heeled citizens in nearby Mountain Village and decided public transit was the answer. Of course, buses are big and noisy. They decided a gondola system would work better!

The only thing better than a public transit system based on gondolas is a free public transit system based on gondolas. This was an awesome way to take in the views around Telluride and Mountain Village.

Bridal Veil Falls

It isn’t just Yosemite that has a Bridal Veil Falls. Telluride has one too. It provides about a quarter of the city’s electricity. The white building between the two branches of the falls is a power house.
