Downtown Telluride
Telluride, Colorado - July 2009Of all the resort communities we visited, we liked Telluride the best. An old mining town set in a box canyon surrounded by mountains, it doesn’t get more picturesque than this. I’d love to see this town in winter.
Public Transit
Telluride, Colorado - July 2009Because Telluride is geographically constrained, there is a limit to the amount of traffic and congestion the community can handle. The well-heeled citizens of Telluride got together with the well-heeled citizens in nearby Mountain Village and decided public transit was the answer. Of course, buses are big and noisy. They decided a gondola system would work better!
Gondola
Mountain Village, Colorado - July 2009The only thing better than a public transit system based on gondolas is a free public transit system based on gondolas. This was an awesome way to take in the views around Telluride and Mountain Village.

Bridal Veil Falls
Telluride, Colorado - July 2009It isn’t just Yosemite that has a Bridal Veil Falls. Telluride has one too. It provides about a quarter of the city’s electricity. The white building between the two branches of the falls is a power house.
